25,000 People Go To a Spring Feast

On Mar. 4th, the Hankouli Huazhao Festival (Flower Festival) began at the Wuhan Garden Expo Park. More than 25,000 visitors showed up that day to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture and enjoy the spring weather.

Dressed in magnificent Hanfu clothing, members of 16 Hanfu student associations from Wuhan universities as well as local citizens and tourists participated in a parade in which they showcased the grandeur of Chinese culture. The Huazhao Festival, or simply Huazhao for short, is a time-honored Chinese festival that is said to be the birthday of the flower goddess. During the celebrations, people participate in group outings (踏青) in the countryside where they go to enjoy the flowers and take part in a variety of folk activities.

This is the 4th Huazhao to be held at the Wuhan Garden Expo Park. In addition to activities such as the Hanfu parade, there are also Chinese cultural performances, handicraft markets and other events like the new "water show" that take place during the festival which will continue until the end of March.
