The new cross-sea high-speed railway bridge connecting Fuzhou and Xiamen in Fujian Province was completed on Tuesday, marking a major milestone in the railway network’s 2023 opening schedule.

The Fuzhou–Xiamen High-Speed Railway spans 277 kilometers and operates at speeds of up to 350 km/h, poised to become China’s first cross-sea high-speed rail line. The newly built bridge over Quanzhou Bay stretches 20 kilometers. According to construction workers, cutting-edge technologies have been deployed to overcome challenges, boost efficiency, and ensure safety.

Following the railway’s opening, travel time between the provincial capital, Fuzhou, and the renowned tourist destination, Xiamen, will be reduced to one hour, thereby accelerating the economic and social development of the southeastern coastal urban agglomeration.
