National Health Commission: Over 900 million people in China have completed the full course of COVID-19 vaccination; mandatory vaccination bundled with other services is strictly prohibited.

At the press conference of the State Council Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism held on September 7, Mi Feng, spokesperson for the National Health Commission and Deputy Director-General of the Publicity Department, stated that “preventing imported cases and domestic resurgences” remains the top priority in current epidemic prevention and control, and that continuing to advance COVID‑19 vaccination efforts remains a key focus.

On September 7, the National Health Commission stated that, as of September 6, the country had administered over 2.11 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines, with nearly 970 million people having completed the full vaccination course.

Individuals aged 12 to 17 have currently received nearly 162.3 million doses.

In response to restrictive measures introduced in some localities to accelerate the pace of vaccination, Wu Liangyou, Deputy Director of the Disease Control Bureau of the National Health Commission, stated that individuals are encouraged to receive COVID‑19 vaccines on the basis of informed consent and voluntary participation, and that practices such as barring unvaccinated persons from public venues must be rectified.
